Electric Vehicles Are The Future Of Transportation In India. Doesn't Have To Be Hard. Read These 9 Tips.

Electric Vehicles Are The Future Of Transportation In India. Doesn't Have To Be Hard. Read These 9 Tips.

Are electric vehicles suitable for Indian roads?

Yes, electric vehicles (EV) are suitable for Indian roads. Electric vehicles are becoming increasingly popular. The global electric vehicle market is expected to grow from 2.1 million units in 2021 to 14.2 million units in 2028. This growth is being driven by a number of factors, including government incentives, rising fuel prices, and concerns about climate change.

Electric vehicles are the next mode of transportation.

Electric vehicles are the future of transportation in India.

Currently, the use of electric vehicles in India has increased to a great extent. With the help of government sponsorship and various practical schemes, the awareness among people has increased and the use of electric vehicles has increased to a large extent, although the number of cars used per capita worldwide is low. Recently, people are thinking of buying electric cars.

However, EVs have yet to go mainstream.

In fact, electric vehicles have several advantages over traditional gasoline-powered vehicles, making them ideal for the Indian market.

Lower transportation costs:

Electric vehicles run on battery recharge. It does not require a high cost like petrol or diesel. By using electric vehicles, fuel consumption is saved at a great rate and saves a significant amount of money.

Quieter:

Electric cars are much quieter than petrol cars, which is an advantage in crowded cities.

Switching to electric vehicles is an important measure that can reduce the harm caused by petrol vehicles and promote a healthy, peaceful lifestyle for all.

Most of the noise of a speeding car is caused by wind and tires. Therefore, the benefits of switching to electric vehicles may not be as significant in areas near highways. This is especially true until diesel and gasoline powered trucks are replaced with electric ones, as most of the noise these trucks emit is from their engines. However, at the speeds of buses and cars that frequently travel through residential areas, most of the noise produced by the vehicles comes from their engines. At this speed, the EV is especially silent.

Easy to maintain:

As electric vehicles lack an internal combustion engine, there is no requirement to choose a lubricant for them. Moreover, these automobiles have limited moving components and fluids, such as oil and transmission fluid. This is a significant factor contributing to Indian customers' preference for EVs as they can function with minimal maintenance.

Lower operating costs:

Electric vehicles cost less to operate than gasoline powered vehicles. This is because electricity is more cost-effective than gasoline and electric vehicles require minimal maintenance.

Today's electric cars have a lot of technology, but they are less complex than modern combustion engine cars.

Most EVs have regenerative braking, which uses an electric motor to perform a significant portion of the braking. This will help protect the electric vehicle's brakes and rotors and further reduce maintenance costs.

Choosing a hybrid vehicle with an internal combustion engine and plug-in can reduce maintenance costs. As PHEV engines use less fuel than conventional petrol vehicles, there is less wear and tear and therefore fewer oil and coolant changes.

Secure for driving:

If you have worries about driving an electric car, understanding that an electric vehicle is completely safe will relieve some of your apprehension. Electric cars undergo identical energy and inspection procedures as gas-fueled vehicles.

In the event of an accident, the vehicle's airbags will deploy immediately and battery power will be cut off. This will ensure that the driver and passengers are not seriously injured. Therefore, it is designed to put the safety of your vehicle first.

Environmentally safe:

Pollution of air is a significant issue in India. The most important reason to switch to electric cars is that these cars are eco-friendly and have no impact on the environment. Electric vehicles produce zero emissions, making them a much more eco-friendly option than gasoline-powered vehicles. These petrol powered vehicles emit harmful and toxic air pollutants like carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides and pollute the environment dangerously. According to the World Health Organization, India ranks 13th among the top 20 cities with the worst air pollution in the world. Cities can breathe easy if EVs are widely adopted as an alternative mode of transportation. With improved grid electricity, EVs appear to be a viable option for urban environments.

Tax benefits:

The Indian government provides a number of tax incentives for electric vehicles, making them more affordable for consumers. Road tax is completely waived for electric vehicles in most states. Kerala and Gujarat have waived 50% road tax.

Key government officials:

Indian authorities have taken drastic measures to start promoting electric cars in the Indian market. NITI Aayog is accountable for the publicity of electric powered automobiles in India. Authorities have proposed waiving the toll and parking fees for electricity for three years.

Some challenges need to be addressed to make electric vehicles more suitable for Indian roads:

Shorter Range anxiety:

One of the biggest concerns of EV owners is stress. Fear of running out of fuel before arriving at your destiny. The range of electric cars will vary according to features such as battery size, vehicle weight and driving style. Average EV range in India is about 150 km. This is more than enough for most city rides, but not enough for long trips.

Electric vehicle Charging point installation.

Lack of Charging infrastructure:

The only drawbacks to EVs in India is the lack of in-home charging. There are a limited number of public charging stations in India, mostly in major cities. This can make it difficult to find a place to charge your EV if you're travelling outside of a big city. But the government is trying to solve the issue with more and more charging stations being set up across the country.

High upfront cost:

Electric cars are still more expensive than gasoline-powered cars because of the high price of batteries. But as battery technology improves, the cost of electric cars must come down.

Despite these challenges, EVs are still a viable option on Indian roads.

The Government of India is committed to promoting the use of electric vehicles. The government has set a target for 30 percent of all new cars sold in India to be electric by 2030. To achieve this, the government subsidizes electric vehicles and invests in charging infrastructure. As the Indian government continues to invest in EVs and charging systems evolve, the challenges that they face will be resolved.

Many automakers in India have become part of the EV distribution chain and are starting to launch their best-in-class EV models. In the future, electric vehicles are likely to become more popular in India.

In her budget speech, respected Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman stated that this measure will promote fuel-efficient and eco-friendly automobiles, ultimately leading to a decline in vehicular pollution and oil import expenses. Automated fitness centres will conduct fitness examinations for personal vehicles after two decades and for commercial vehicles after fifteen years.

The scrappage policy begins after the expiry of the specified concurrent registration.

This policy has various advantages.

Since old automobiles cause pollution, scrapping them will protect public health and control pollution. When the old car is scrapped, the tendency to buy new cars will increase, and as a result of new car sales and production will increase, the economy will improve.

What is the aim of the policy for disposing of automobiles?

The main objectives of the automobile scrap policy is to identify vehicles that are old, unroadworthy and polluting the environment, and send them for Scrapping. Here is a detailed discussion on the outline of scrapping cars:

Increases safety of vehicles, passengers and roads.

Environmental pollution is controlled by scraping unfit cars.

New jobs are created by scrapping old cars.

The maintenance cost of the car owner is reduced and oil is saved. As a result, the country's fuel import pressure is reduced.

Availability of automotive, steel, and electronics products increased, as a result prices of them decreased.

Most importantly, with the implementation of the car scrapping law, recycling old cars will encourage people to buy new cars.

Benefits of the Vehicle Scrappage Policy:

Now let's see how the Automobile scrappage policy all-around helps the car owner, the Automobile Industry, the economy, and to prevent environmental pollution.

Age Limit of the Vehicle:

More than 51 lakh light category motor vehicles are used in India for personal and commercial purposes and have an age over 20 years. This image displays solely the Lmv classification. Besides this, approximately 1.7 million large and medium category goods vehicles are aged over 15 years.

Variety notable benefits:

"It will save on maintenance costs, repair costs and fuel consumption of old cars. The third advantage is closely associated with life. It will provide some respite from the high risk of road mishaps caused by antiquated vehicles and outdated technology. Fourthly, it will curtail the detrimental effects of pollution on our health,” honourable Prime Minister said.

Boost to Automotive Industry :

With the process of old and unfit vehicles scrapping policy, there will be a huge demand for new vehicles as old vehicles are replaced by new ones. Thereby manufacturing of new vehicles will increase. New cars will emerge with better technology and amenities and relatively more comfortable and safe.

Generate Employment:

"The informal sector plays a noteworthy role in the collection, dismantling, and recycling of out-of-use vehicles. The retrieval of usable parts not only provides a source of income but also caters to the demand for parts in the automobile market," stated Anumita Roychowdhury and Vivek Chattopadhyaya, experts at the Centre for Science and Environment.

Employment opportunities in the total automobile industry will be increased as a whole.

Environmental Protection waste:

The law promotes the protection of environmental waste from vehicles. Old cars are often disassembled and reused, with hazardous materials discarded to avoid contamination.

Incentives for Vehicle Owners:

Vehicle owners will get a certain percentage of tax redemption benefit from this scheme. It is as high as 15% for commercial vehicle owners and 25% for private car owners. On producing the certificate of deposit, the vehicle owners will enjoy an additional 5% discount at the time of buying a new vehicle.

What are the Incentives for Scrapping aged and non-roadworthy Vehicles?

The Government of India has announced various incentive schemes for scrapping old and scrappy vehicles. Now let's look back a bit how car owners can get benefits according to scrappage policy:

1.Owners of old and unroadworthy cars after scrapping their cars will get a discount of 4%-6% of the ex-showroom price on the scrap value when they buy a new car.

2.Car manufacturers have been told to give a 5% discount on the price of a new car if car owners show a deposit certificate.

3.Not only that, there will be no registration fee if vehicle owners show the certificate of deposit at the car showroom while buying a new car.

4.In respect of Motor Vehicle Tax, the State Governments have been directed to grant a certain percentage rebate on Road Tax. It is 25% in private cars and 15% in commercial vehicles.

So many benefits can be availed by the car owners when they scrap the old, unroadworthy car and buy a new car at the same time. New car maintenance cost is very low, fuel saving and less accident prone.

Will all vehicles exceeding the threshold be scrapped ?

Whether the vehicle is roadworthy or not. If the vehicle fails the fitness test, it will be scrapped. So, yes, all vehicles beyond the threshold will be scrapped.

If the automobile does not clear the fitness test, it will not receive the renewal certificate and will be prohibited from operating on the roads of India in accordance with the vehicle scrapping regulations. However, upon passing the test, the private/ Non-transport vehicle will obtain a renewal certificate and will have to undergo the fitness test every five years.

Conclusion

Overall, the government's vehicle scrapping policy offers many benefits, including: Reducing air pollution, promoting alternative fuels, facilitating transportation, authorizing emission standards for vehicles at its BSVI level, and revitalizing the automotive industry. However, enforcing these laws requires careful planning and consideration of many factors, including incentives, infrastructure for vehicle inspection and disposal, and impact on large numbers of people.

However, based on the above information, it can be concluded that the effectiveness  of scrapping policy  measures are fairly accurate.

In this blog post, we will help you select the ideal auto repair shop that meets your requirements and offers exceptional service at a reasonable cost. So fasten your seatbelt and get ready to discover how to make a smart choice for all your car maintenance needs!

Introduction to Automobile Industry:

The car manufacturing sector is a capital and technology-driven business, a vast industry network that has a significant impact on various related industries. The Indian automobile industry embraces a variety of vehicles including two-wheelers, buses, trucks, cars, tractors and three-wheelers. The upstream phase of the car manufacturing industry deals with the manufacture of car components such as lights, tires, sheet metal, aluminium alloy steel rims, hoods, bumpers and other parts. The midstream stage involves assembling vehicles, repairing and providing technical services, while the downstream segment focuses on sales, import and export activities.

How to Find the Right Automobile Repair Shop in Your Area?

In case you come across issues with your vehicle, it is understandable that you would seek an automobile servicing centre in your area. Although there is an abundance of such establishments and technicians, identifying the ideal one can be quite challenging. Here are some suggestions and methods to assist you in locating an auto repair shop nearby.

Inquire from individuals in your area and search the internet for vehicle maintenance centres:

Your initial step is to recommend a vehicle maintenance centre from people around you where they have had a positive experience. Generally, the most reliable recommendations come from your acquaintances and relatives because their preferences can be trusted. You can also browse the internet for vehicle maintenance centres in your area and then narrow down the options based on recommendations and other criteria.

Checking out the most suitable auto repair shop:

It is recommended to take an informed decision by reviewing the online feedback of workshops located in your area. Reviews are usually posted by unbiased customers and can help you select the most suitable auto repair shop.

Note the vehicles they service:

It is essential to make sure the car garage technicians know about the type of car you own. Different car manufacturers have different specifications and parts, as well as unique designs. Basically, different brands and models have a specific way of servicing.

Verifying the authenticity of the certificate:

When you enter a vehicle repair establishment, it is important to observe the official certificates displayed on the walls or windows. Reliable garages always demonstrate their technical competence. It is imperative that your mechanic and repair shop have certification from the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence, commonly known as ASE.

These certifications are evidence of the mechanics' specialized instruction in specific areas of automobile repair as well as how current their skills are. Simply put, the ideal place to get your vehicle serviced is at a workshop that employs certified personnel.

Attend workshops in person:

Before choosing an auto repair shop, it is advisable to attend several workshops in person to understand their services. Avoid choosing the first shop near your location and instead visit multiple workshops to assess the skills of their staff. Assess their technical skills and experience in providing repair services. Finally, choose the workshop that meets your criteria and budget.

Check out the range of services offered:

Another aspect to consider before selecting an automobile body maintenance garage is to evaluate the various facilities extended by the garage. The wider the range of facilities, the more beneficial it will be to you as your vehicle may require a wider spectrum of overhauls in the future.

Analyze Automobile Maintenance Cost:

After getting the quotes, compare and analyze them. Note any significant differences in prices and inquire about the reason for the discrepancy. Keep in mind that the cheapest option may not always be the best, as service quality and efficiency should also be considered.

Once you have thoroughly analyzed the maintenance costs and weighed the pros and cons of each option, make an informed decision about which automobile maintenance shop to choose.

Don't rely solely on price when making a decision:

It is very important to obtain a quote and consider the costs involved in the services provided. It is not advisable to rely on price alone. Choosing the cheapest option can have a negative impact on your vehicle. However, the lowest price does not always indicate poor quality, and the highest price does not always guarantee the best service. Conduct thorough research and comparisons before reaching a conclusion.

Benefits of taking your car in for repairs:

Let's get one thing straight: There are many benefits to taking your car in for repairs. Benefits of having your car repaired at the dealership include:

*Good deal

*Better warranty

*Quality parts

*Repair centre

*Specialist technicians designed   for your make and model of vehicle.

We hope these tips help you choose the best auto repair shop.

Conclusion:

You need to take care of your vehicle. Opting for a garage is not easy, but it is really important. Regularly driving an unmaintained vehicle is a risk factor for you, but equally dangerous for everyone else on the road.

It's a good idea to research options in your area and have at least two to three reliable auto repair shops to call the next time you have car trouble.
